The Sacred Call of the Healer 2013: A Year-Long Shamanic Initiation

The archetype of the healer manifests as the desire to serve the well-being of others, including children, adults, and the elderly, as well as animals and the natural world. If you carry the archetype of the healer, you may work on one or a combination of the following levels: physical, mental, energetic and spiritual. For example, as a doctor you may express the archetype of the healer by providing physical healing, as a therapist you may express it by providing psychological healing, as a healing touch practitioner you may express it by providing energetic healing, and as a shamanic practitioner you may express it by providing spiritual healing. It’s also possible for your occupation to be deeply inspired by a passion to serve while not necessarily resembling a traditional “healing profession,” as the essence of the archetype of the healer lies in the call to serve and the genuine expression of that call, regardless of the form it takes.

The presence of the archetype of the healer within you is intimately connected to your soul’s purpose, which becomes realized by way of your service in the world; the more deeply you heed the call to serve others, the more purposeful and meaningful your life will feel. Conversely, if you’re not acting in the service of others although you feel inspired to do so, if you’re not working on the level of healing where your strongest gift lies, or if you’re not honoring the healing aspect of the work you do in the world, you may not feel that you’re living in alignment with your soul’s purpose.

As shamanic journeyers, when it comes to understanding and fulfilling our soul’s purpose, our helping spirits are invaluable allies. However, we may not be engaging their support to the greatest advantage, either when it comes to awakening and enlivening the archetype of the healer, or cultivating its ideal expression in the world.

The purpose of this year-long shamanic initiation is to fortify the connection between the archetype of the healer that lies within you and your helping spirits, such that your commitment to serve is supported and facilitated by an unshakable foundation of clarity, purposefulness, and power.

The arc of the training follows the cycles of life – birth, life, death and rebirth – with the view that you will become re-born as the healer you truly are throughout the course of the training.

Beginning with Birth, you will:

  • Uncover your soul’s purpose
  • Discover your spiritual inheritance
  • Reclaim your sacred call to the path of the healer

Moving into Life, you will:

  • Explore the nature of power and the specific kinds of power you carry
  • Learn how to carry your power with humility, dignity and integrity
  • Develop a sense of empowerment within your family life, your personal life, and your professional life

Proceeding into Death, you will:

  • Dissolve the limiting beliefs and habitual patterns that no longer serve you
  • Grieve the losses that keep you tied to your past
  • Release what you’re holding that’s not you and not yours

Finally, rejoicing in Re-Birth, you will:

  • Experience the rites of passage and initiations that were overlooked during your life
  • Be welcomed into the community in your wholeness and radiance
  • Receive a spiritual name when you become re-born as the healer you truly are

The structure of the training includes the following components:

  • Four 3-day gatherings, each of which will be dedicated to one of the cycles of life
  • A weekly journey for deepening your personal inquiry, which will pertain directly to where you are in your exploration of the cycles of life
  • Small group meetings in between the gatherings for supporting, witnessing, and sharing with one another
  • Three individual shamanic healing sessions, which can take place in person, via telephone, or via Skype.

The four gatherings will take place at the Boulder Healing Arts Studio, which is a non-residential gathering space in Boulder, CO. If you are traveling from out of state or out of the country, please contact Julie to discuss convenient accommodation options in the Boulder area.
